IT Project Engineer – Network Operations Division
Location: Suburban Washington, D.C.
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain DOE L‑Level (Q‑Level may be required)
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled IT Project Engineer to support mission‑critical programs within the Department of Energy’s Network Operations Division. This role focuses on designing, configuring, integrating, and maintaining IT systems while ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with DOE and federal requirements.
Key Responsibilities IT System Design, Configuration & Maintenance- Design, configure, install, and maintain IT systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Ensure data accuracy, system security, and compliance with applicable regulations and DOE/.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and lifecycle management processes.
- Analyze, plan, and implement solutions for system integration and configuration management.
- Support quality assurance, resource management, and project execution across multiple IT initiatives.
- Coordinate with technical teams to ensure seamless interoperability of hardware, software, and network components.
- Evaluate IT solutions to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
- Troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions to maintain operational readiness.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, policies, and procedures to support system accuracy and security.
- Provide mission‑critical support aligned with DOE/s, guidelines, directives, and policies.
- Adapt to evolving deliverables, performance standards, and timelines as directed by DOE.
- Ensure all work adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Maintain all required certifications and qualifications relevant to assigned tasks.
- Complete periodic refresher and annual training as required by the Contracting Officer and Network Operations Manager.
- Maintain accurate logs of training completion and compliance.
- Experience designing, configuring, and maintaining IT systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of system integration, configuration management, and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues across hardware, software, and network layers.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L‑Level security clearance (Q‑Level may be required).
- Adapt to evolving deliverables, performance standards, and timelines as directed by DOE.
- Ensure all work adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience supporting federal agencies or secure facilities.
- Certifications such as Security+, CASP+, CISSP, ITIL, or equivalent.
- Experience with system engineering frameworks, configuration management tools, and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with DOE environments, NIST guidelines, or other regulated IT frameworks.
