Job Overview

The Desktop Technician IV serves as a senior technical resource and team lead, providing advanced Tier II/III desktop support while leading small projects and mentoring junior technicians. This role operates with minimal supervision and directly supports BIA modernization and operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced desktop, hardware, software, and network troubleshooting
  • Lead small IT projects including deployments, migrations, and site upgrades
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, SOPs, workflows, and reports
  • Mentor Desktop Technician III staff and provide technical guidance
  • Ensure compliance with DOI/IA security and operational policies
  • Support enterprise and specialized software systems (GIS, AutoCAD)
  • Maintain hardware/software inventory accuracy
  • Coordinate with FSMs, GTMs, and COR-directed initiatives
  • Support emergency and after-hours tasks as authorized
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive IT desktop support experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work independently
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience supporting LANs, servers, and network switches
  • Ability to lift and install equipment up to 75 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing or mentoring 5+ staff
  • ITIL v3 knowledge
  • Federal IT or DOI environment experience
