Comprising over 125 personnel, the Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) delivers expertise in program and project management, acquisition and contracting, systems and digital engineering, software development, test and evaluation, sustainment and life cycle management, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT services. These capabilities support more than 100 Above Water Sensor, Undersea, and Combat System programs and projects within the Navy's Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS), as well as clients in PEO Ships, the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
Responsibilities SPA's IWSG is seeking a dedicated Senior Database Engineer to support the Space Systems Development Department (SSDD), the primary space and ground support systems research and development (R&D) organization of the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST), an organization within the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. This organization provides Navy Space Program technology development and acquisition of space, aerospace, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4
ISR) systems to assist Naval Missions. Responsibilities include advanced research and development for scientific, technical, and engineering efforts associated with the development and integration of C4
ISR systems. This position is full-time onsite at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. We expect to hire for this position in late 2025. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range: $140,000 - $180,000. Qualifications Required
* BS Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
* Minimum relevant experience of twelve (12) years
* DoD granted TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment Desired
* Experience applying software development methodologies and practices, including traditional structured programming as well as object-oriented programming techniques and broad utilization of current software development tools within numerous requirements, specifically to planning, design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of complex technical software systems
* Experience in producing technical and user documentation, training, and system orientation, and consulting with related development teams throughout the software development life cycle
* Experience in all aspects of software development supporting complex Multi-INT processing from initial planning and design to final installation and maintenance
