Database Administrator Mid-level

Ana Vation is seeking a Mid‑level Database Administrator who will manage and optimize our customers' database environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies. This role blends core DBA tasks with system administration in Windows Server, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.

• Design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases
• Maintain database dictionaries and integrate systems through database design
• Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems
• Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics
• Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping)
• Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration
• Automate routine operations using Power Shell or similar scripting tools
• Collaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changes
• Enforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non‑production environments
• Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practices

This position requires a Top‑Secret clearance.

This position is on‑site in Washington DC with no remote option.

• Minimum of 4 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 4+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
• Experience with database administration
• Experience implementing data policies, procedures, and standards
• Experience planning and developing an organization’s enterprise data model
• Experience resolving data conflicts
• Experience managing data repositories
• Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning
• A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph
• Can be on‑site 5 days a week

• Proficiency in Power Shell or other scripting languages
• Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS
• Experience using NiFi for ETL workflows
• Familiarity with Linux environments
• Exposure to Dev Ops tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Cloud experience
• Experience migrating data between different database systems or versions, and integrating data from multiple sources into a unified database environment
