Dhaka Technologies Limited is hiring for a client seeking an experienced IBM DB2 Database Administrator. The role will require the selected candidate to manage, configure, and maintain databases running on mainframe platforms.

Description:

The client operates a mission-critical Motor Vehicle Information System that supports driver licensing, vehicle registration and titling, inspections, insurance compliance, medical and parking permit management, and other core functions.

To ensure the continued reliability and modernization of the system, the application requires ongoing enhancements, fixes, and functional expansions. This includes support for software applications, database management, and web-based components.

Dhaka Technologies Limited is hiring for a client seeking an IBM DB2 Database Administrator responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the DB2 database environment that supports the application. This role will ensure high availability, performance, data integrity, and seamless operation of the client’s mission-critical systems.

Role

Description:

Perform database installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and version management. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and tune DB2 components to ensure high availability. Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to meet the client’s continuity requirements.

Skills:
  • 15+ years of strong hands‑on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS, depending on the environment).
  • Expertise in database design, data modeling, schema management, and SQL optimization.
  • Knowledge of high‑availability technologies, including HADR, replication, failover, and clustering.
  • Experience supporting complex, transactional, high‑volume systems; government or motor vehicle systems experience is ideal.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of IBM batch jobs and integration with enterprise applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and performance‑tuning skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the application team by optimizing database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers.
  • Work closely with developers to integrate enhancements, fixes, and new functionalities aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure application releases and data model changes are synchronized with database environments.
  • Maintain data integrity through robust data validation, referential integrity, and error‑handling practices.
  • Enforce database security standards, user access controls, and audit requirements consistent with the client’s policies.
  • Support compliance with privacy and data protection rules applicable to personal information.
  • Use DB2 monitoring tools to proactively identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Analyze SQL performance and query execution plans and recommend optimizations.
  • Tune databases, memory pools, indexes, and storage structures for improved system throughput.
  • Support ongoing fixes, enhancements, and modernization efforts related to the system.
  • Collaborate with the client’s infrastructure teams on server performance, storage, and network connectivity affecting DB2.
  • Implement schema modifications, table restructuring, indexing strategies, and partitioning as required.
  • Provide technical knowledge and support to client personnel and additional stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate the activities of application developers, as needed.
  • Identify best practices and standards for the use of the product.
  • Deliver support and design for industry‑specific applications that require integration with enterprise systems or applications.
  • Interact with executive‑level business users or technical experts.
  • Function as a niche technical subject matter expert, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 16 years of experience in database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Minimum 16 years of SQL experience.
  • Minimum 16 years of designing and implementing reports and report interfaces.
  • Minimum 16 years of hands‑on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS).
  • Minimum 10 years of knowledge of high‑availability technologies, including HADR, replication, failover, and clustering.
  • Minimum 10 years of familiarity with ETL processes, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.
