Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Security Engineer to support a federal technology and engineering contractor that delivers cybersecurity, software development, cloud, intelligence, and mission support solutions to U.S. defense, intelligence, and civilian government agencies.
This role is 100% on-site in Washington D.C. and requires an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
This role is ideal for an experienced network engineer with deep expertise in Cisco security technologies, secure routing, and large-scale network infrastructure deployments. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience implementing and supporting enterprise security solutions within complex government environments.
Responsibilities of the Network Security Engineer- Plans, coordinates, and implements the organization's information security.
- Analyzes requirements and potential solutions for technical and economic feasibility.
- Design optimized firewall and IPS rule structure and ensures standards are maintained.
- Monitors and maintains health of all firewalls/IPS and recommends improvements.
- Develops and maintains documentation of firewall/IPS procedures.
- Develops and maintains complex schematics relating to network security.
- Researches, evaluates, recommends, designs, tests, and implements new network security technologies.
- Displays expert knowledge of current security tools and practices.
- Under general guidance, provides support to network engineers.
- 10+ years of professional IT experience (YOE flexibility with educational degree)
- at least 3-4 of the following technologies...
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) – upgrades, licensing, maintenance, and deployment
- Cisco Firepower – upgrades, maintenance, and deployment
- Cisco ASA to Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) migrations
- Cisco 802.1X deployment
- DMVPN design and deployment (CNSSP-15 compliant)
- Juniper ADVPN
- Strong understanding of enterprise routing protocols including:
- OSPF
- EIGRP
- BGP
- Experience supporting complex enterprise or federal network environments.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Ability and willingness to work fully onsite in Washington D.C.
- Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000
