Network Storage Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Network Storage Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Washington, District Of Columbia.

Overview

The Network Storage Engineer handles senior-level administration and engineering support for SAN fabric infrastructure and core network connectivity supporting the SEC ISS environment. The role involves maintaining secure and high-performing SAN network operations across enterprise data center services and storage-dependent platforms.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day SAN fabric infrastructure using Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus platforms
• Configure, deploy, and maintain core SAN network connectivity supporting enterprise storage services
• Execute moves, adds, and changes to SAN network components in line with change processes
• Maintain SAN fabric configurations, standards, and documentation
• Monitor SAN network health, performance, and availability
• Perform capacity and performance tuning activities
• Produce operational reports for connectivity, availability, and performance metrics
• Troubleshoot SAN connectivity and performance issues to restore service
• Conduct root cause analysis and coordinate incident resolution with support teams
• Support operational surge and on-call activities for critical incidents and outages
• Ensure SAN operations meet security, compliance, and operational standards
• Support continuity and disaster recovery objectives
• Maintain SOPs, topology diagrams, and records for audits and operational readiness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 8+ years of experience in data center network administration for SANs
• Experience with Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus platforms
• CCNA Data Center Certification or equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust clearance
• Must meet contract requirements for citizenship/work authorization
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNP Data Center or higher Cisco data center specialization
• Experience supporting SAN networking in Net App-centric enterprise storage environments
• Supporting federal IT operations under FISMA/NIST requirements
• Supporting DR/COOP failover connectivity across primary and secondary data centers
• ITIL 4 Foundation or equivalent certification
• Net App Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
