Position Summary

The Chief Growth Officer (CGO) is a senior executive responsible for building and executing Bascom Hunter's enterprise growth strategy. This individual will own the business development lifecycle - from market intelligence and pipeline development through capture, proposal, and contract award - while cultivating relationships with DoD customers, prime contractors, and teaming partners. The CGO will partner closely with the CEO, Chief Operating Officer, contracts, and program leadership to align growth strategy with delivery capacity, compliance obligations, and long-term company objectives.

This role carries direct accountability for pipeline health, win rate, and revenue growth targets.

Bascom Hunter is an aerospace and defense contractor delivering mission-critical solutions to the Department of Defense, intelligence community, and prime contractor partners. Our team supports national security priorities through engineering, technical, and program services performed under strict compliance with U.S. Government contracting, security, and export-control requirements. As Bascom Hunter enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a Chief Growth Officer to lead the strategy, capture, marketing, and business development functions that will expand our position across the defense industrial base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy aligned with DoD acquisition priorities, aerospace market trends, agency budgets, and Bascom Hunter's core capabilities.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of opportunities across current and adjacent markets, ensuring healthy coverage against revenue targets.
  • Lead capture management for strategic pursuits, including win strategy, competitive assessment, teaming decisions, price-to-win analysis, and customer call plans.
  • Oversee proposal development and ensure compliant, compelling submissions in accordance with FAR/DFARS requirements and solicitation instructions.
  • Establish and grow relationships with government customers, program executive offices, and prime contractor partners across the defense industrial base.
  • Identify and negotiate strategic teaming arrangements, partnerships, and subcontract opportunities that strengthen Bascom Hunter's competitive position.
  • Direct market research and competitive intelligence efforts to inform bid/no-bid decisions and long-range capture planning.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development, capture, and proposal organization.
  • Partner with Contracts and Compliance to ensure all growth activities adhere to applicable security, export-control (ITAR/EAR), and government contracting regulations.
  • Support M&A pipeline development and due diligence as directed by the CEO and Board.
  • Own the BD budget and report pipeline metrics, win/loss analysis, and growth performance to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Represent Bascom Hunter at industry conferences, customer forums, and association events (e.g., AFCEA, NDIA).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive business development, capture management, or growth leadership experience within the aerospace, defense, or government services sector.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading captures and proposals that resulted in significant contract awards with DoD, intelligence community, or federal civilian agencies.
  • Deep working knowledge of the federal acquisition process, FAR/DFARS, and DoD budgeting and requirements cycles.
  • Established network of relationships with DoD customers, prime contractors, and industry partners.
  • Experience leading and scaling business development teams, including capture managers, proposal staff, and BD analysts.
  • Proven ability to operate at the executive level, including Board-level reporting and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Contracts, and Finance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites, partner locations, and industry events.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above).
  • Strong technical knowledge of defense electronics or advanced mechanical equipment.
  • Formal training in a recognized capture/proposal methodology.
  • Prior experience in a small or mid-size government contracting environment supporting rapid organic growth.
  • Familiarity with GWACs, IDIQs, and other common DoD contract vehicles.
  • Experience supporting or leading M&A activity within the government services sector.
Clearance:

Active or reinstateable U.S. Government security clearance strongly preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance as a condition of employment
