Job DescriptionTech Sur is seeking a Database Administrator to support DOL OCIO/ETA SWARAS database operations, reporting, data integrity, backup/recovery, database performance, and application data support. This role administers and optimizes SQL Server, AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, and related database environments that support SWARAS reporting and analysis for State Workforce Agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, tune, and maintain SWARAS database environments including SQL Server, AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, and related relational database platforms.
- Support database availability, performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, storage management, and data integrity across production, test, and development environments.
- Develop and maintain backup, restoration, recovery, replication, and continuity procedures.
- Support enterprise reporting and analytics for ETA stakeholders including data extraction, validation, reporting support, and Power BI/data reporting needs.
- Troubleshoot data-related incidents and provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support in coordination with the Help Desk Lead and Dev Sec Ops Technical Lead.
- Apply database security controls, role-based access, audit logging, encryption, patching, and vulnerability remediation in alignment with FISMA Moderate and NIST requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation, database diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures in Confluence, SharePoint, or Government-designated repositories.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of database administration experience in federal or highly regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora/RDS, backup/recovery, tuning, and data integrity management.
- Prior experience with Department of Labor IT programs is REQUIRED.
- Experience supporting reporting/analytics systems and production application databases.
- Familiarity with AWS-hosted databases, Red Hat Linux/Windows server environments, and Service Now/Jira ticket coordination.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain DOL Public Trust suitability.
- Prior DOL OCIO, ETA, SWARAS, UI reporting, workforce reporting, grants, or state/federal reporting system experience.
- AWS Database Specialty, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Security+, or related database/cloud certification.
- Experience supporting FISMA Moderate, NIST 800-53, CPIC reporting, POA&M remediation, and audit readiness.
