Job Overview

As a Senior Technical Editor, you will serve as a senior documentation and publications professional responsible for planning, coordinating, reviewing, managing, and ensuring the quality of technical documentation across government programs. You will collaborate with program leadership, engineers, analysts, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure deliverables are accurate, compliant, and effectively communicate complex technical information.

This position offers the opportunity to influence organizational documentation standards, improve publication processes, and support mission-critical customer deliverables.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and oversee technical editing, documentation, and publication activities supporting program objectives
  • Review, edit, and approve technical documentation for accuracy, clarity, consistency, completeness, and compliance with established standards
  • Manage the development, revision, publication, and distribution of technical reports, manuals, procedures, plans, presentations, and other deliverables
  • Establish and maintain editorial policies, style guides, templates, and documentation standards
  • Coordinate document reviews, approvals, revisions, and publication schedules
  • Ensure documentation complies with contractual requirements, customer expectations, and organizational policies
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, program personnel, and subject matter experts to develop and improve technical content
  • Review complex technical information and ensure content is understandable and effectively communicated to intended audiences
  • Monitor documentation processes and recommend improvements to increase quality and efficiency
  • Prepare and present status reports, metrics, and recommendations regarding documentation activities and deliverables
  • Support document control, records management, and configuration management processes as required
  • Ensure technical deliverables are completed accurately and submitted on schedule
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentorship to writers, editors, and document preparation personnel
  • Support audits, reviews, and assessments involving technical documentation and records

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Information Management, Business, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years of experience in technical editing, technical writing, document management, publications management, or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of technical writing, editing, and publication principles
  • Knowledge of document control, records management, and documentation lifecycle processes
