The Backup Recovery Engineer will manage backup and recovery processes, ensure data integrity, and troubleshoot backup issues. This person will implement and maintain backup procedures, assist in developing and testing disaster recovery and COOP plans. They will perform daily management of backup systems, monitor backup job completions, and resolve backup failures. This person will conduct regular backup verifications and test restores to ensure data recoverability.
The engineer will manage tape rotations (if applicable) and off-site storage of backup media. They will assist in capacity planning for backup infrastructure, implement data retention policies, and manage backup schedules to minimize impact on production systems. This person will collaborate with system administrators and database administrators to ensure all critical data is properly backed up. This person will participate in disaster recovery exercises, document recovery procedures, and contribute to the continuous improvement of backup and recovery processes.
The engineer will stay current with backup and recovery technologies and best practices, and support the integration of backup and recovery processes with broader IT service management frameworks.
Here's What You Need
- Bachelor's degree (or 4 additional years of experience) in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- At least 4 years of experience implementing and managing backup/recovery in enterprise IT
Security Requirements
- Active Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI, or TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required, depending on position
The pay range for the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland is:
$78,600 - $160,200 USD
