Data Scientist

Blu Omega is hiring a Data Scientist for an onsite role in Washington, DC supporting a federal financial data analysis program.

• Retrieve, process, and analyze large-scale financial datasets, including Bank Secrecy Act data and related transaction information
• Perform entity resolution and data cleansing to maintain data quality and integrity across large datasets
• Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms using quantitative techniques such as:
  • Statistical sampling
  • Regression analysis
  • Link analysis
  • Geospatial analysis
  • Social network analysis
  • Data mining
• Query, filter, and visualize data using agency tools and platforms, including BSA Search and Transaction Grid Search
• Build custom datasets, queries, and code to support analytical workflows and reporting needs
• Communicate project progress, analytical findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders

• Experience working with large-scale financial data environments
  , including transactional data from SWIFT
  , CHIPS
  , and book transfer systems
• Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act data, including SARs
  , CTRs
  , and Form 8300 filings
• Proficiency with Python and Jupyter Notebook
  , plus R,
  Num Py
  , pandas
  , and scikit-learn
• Strong foundation in statistical methods and data analysis techniques
• Ability to analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns and deliver actionable insights

• Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance required

• Experience in data mapping, cleansing, and data validation
• Understanding of international bank wire transfer formats, including SWIFT
  , CHIPS
  , and book transfer systems
• Experience communicating analytical results to senior leaders and stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities

• Salary Range: USD 120,000
  - 180,000 per yearly
• Final compensation depends on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance
