About this position

The IDB Group is looking for an active graduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality. The 2027 Winter Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.

What

you'll do

Support the Disaster Risk Team within the Environmental and Social Solutions Division (VPS/ESG) in reviewing and updating the structure, quality, and consistency of operational and technical databases used to monitor disaster risk due diligence activities during project preparation and supervision. Extract and verify data from internal sources and project-related information systems to support the preparation of analytical inputs, summaries, and operational briefs.

Conduct basic quantitative and qualitative analysis of disaster risk management data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve portfolio monitoring and operational follow-up. Prepare templates for quarterly and annual operational management reports, including data tables, narrative summaries, indicators, and visual materials to communicate progress, results, and key messages. Support the design and development of an operational dashboard by helping define indicators, organize datasets, prepare visualizations, test usability, and document the process for future updates.

What

you'll need

• Education :
An active graduate student (Master's or Ph.D.) in data science, statistics, economics, public policy, business analytics, information systems, engineering, environmental sciences, disaster risk management, or related fields at an accredited university. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.

• Languages :
Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required.

• Key skills :
Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things, and apply analytical thinking to solve problems.

• Soft skills :
Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management skills.

• Technical skills :

- Strong analytical, data management, and data visualization skills, including familiarity with dashboard design and industry-standard tools.

- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to learn and apply new concepts, data tools, and processes, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.

- Working knowledge of performance measurement, project management, and due diligence concepts, including the identification and mitigation of project risks.

- Previous experience in Latin America and the Caribbean and familiarity with the IDB and its environmental and social safeguards are a plus.

Requirements

• Citizenship :
Be a national of an IDB member country

• Active student :
Enrolled in a graduate (master's or Ph.D.) program as of the start date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.

• Consanguinity :
You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

• First job at the IDB Group :
