Position Overview
The Cryptographic Modernization Systems Engineering Analyst supports the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO) under the Booz Allen Hamilton CS Enhancement Task Order. This position provides direct support to Department of Defense cryptographic modernization initiatives, enterprise key management programs, and cybersecurity policy development efforts that strengthen the protection, management, and distribution of enterprise cryptographic capabilities across the Department.
This position is primarily onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia (4–5 days per week) and requires close collaboration with government leadership, technical subject matter experts, acquisition organizations, and enterprise stakeholders. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted systems engineering and technical advisor responsible for conducting technical assessments, coordinating enterprise-wide data calls, analyzing complex technical information, and developing executive-level recommendations that support Department-wide cybersecurity modernization efforts.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-motivated professional who is comfortable working independently and demonstrates the initiative to identify, assess, and execute tasks with minimal supervision. This individual must be capable of coordinating activities across geographically dispersed organizations while confidently communicating technical information and recommendations to senior military officers, civilian executives, and technical leadership. Strong analytical abilities, exceptional technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical and policy information into actionable recommendations are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Department of Defense cryptographic modernization, key management, and enterprise cybersecurity initiatives.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, execute, and analyze enterprise-wide data calls, ensuring timely collection, validation, and consolidation of information from multiple organizations.
- Analyze data call responses, identify trends, technical impacts, resource requirements, schedule implications, and potential risks affecting modernization initiatives.
- Conduct systems engineering assessments and technical evaluations supporting enterprise cybersecurity, cryptographic modernization, and key management programs.
- Research and evaluate guidance from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Joint Staff, National Security Agency (NSA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and other governing organizations.
- Develop systems engineering recommendations supporting Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), Key Management Enterprise (KME), Communications Security (COMSEC), and related Department of Defense modernization efforts.
- Coordinate activities across DoD CIO organizations, DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, Military Departments, acquisition program offices, and other government stakeholders to synchronize modernization efforts.
- Prepare executive briefings, technical reports, white papers, decision papers, presentations, and strategic communications supporting senior government leadership.
- Develop and review technical and administrative documentation to ensure alignment with Department of Defense policies, modernization strategies, and leadership priorities.
- Participate in technical working groups, systems engineering reviews, policy discussions, and cross-functional planning meetings.
