Our client-centric approach, coupled with our deep domain expertise and technical prowess, enables us to forge enduring relationships and consistently deliver high-impact, adaptive solutions that resonate with the unique needs of the public sector.
The RoleThis is the senior technical seat on the helpdesk team supporting a federal agency. Incidents reach you after Tier 1 and Tier 2 have tried and could not close them, so the work is root-cause analysis and systems administration rather than ticket triage. You support about 2,100 people at headquarters in Washington, DC and 53 field offices nationwide; field IT staff upgrade to your team when local troubleshooting runs out.
The environment is Microsoft end to end:
Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra productivity and identity;
Intune and Manage Engine Endpoint Central for endpoint management and patching;
Microsoft Defender for endpoint protection;
Windows Server and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server behind the scenes. The desktop fleet is HP Elite Book and Lenovo Think Pad hardware imaged to the U.S. Government Configuration Baseline (USGCB), and the ticketing system is Zendesk. An enterprise migration to Windows 11 runs during the contract, and you are the technical lead for its planning, application testing, configuration, and deployment.
You'll Do
- Take the incidents nobody else could close: advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and the judgment call on whether an incident is a one-off or the first sign of a system-wide problem
- Administer Active Directory, Azure, Entra , and Microsoft 365: accounts, group policy, permissions, and access controls
- Write, build, and deploy Power Shell scripts to automate builds, deployments, and routine work across multiple environments
- Install, update, and patch applications across the enterprise; author and test install scripts; package and integration-test applications
- Plan and deliver the Windows 11 migration, keeping every agency application working under the USGCB desktop baseline
- Harden workstations, monitor threats, and work with the agency security operations team on virus scans, malware remediation, and desktop data recovery
- Support Microsoft 365 products including SharePoint, One Drive, Teams, and Power Apps, plus mobile device configuration
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity across LAN and WAN infrastructure
- Document your work in Zendesk thoroughly enough that another technician or analyst can pick it up without you in the room
- A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field, or ten years of relevant professional experience in place of the degree
- Hands-on system administration in a Microsoft enterprise environment, including Active Directory, Entra , and Microsoft 365
- Power Shell scripting you have written and shipped, not just edited
- Endpoint management and patching experience with Intune, Manage Engine Endpoint Central, or comparable tooling
- Experience serving as the escalation point above Tier 1 and Tier 2 support
- Clear written documentation habits
- A Microsoft role-based certification such as Endpoint Administrator, Azure Administrator, or Microsoft 365 Administrator
- ITIL v4 Foundations
- A Windows 10 to Windows 11 enterprise migration you helped deliver
- Prior support to a federal civilian agency, particularly a small one
- Experience supporting assistive technology (the environment includes JAWS, Fusion, Dragon, Zoom Text, and Duxbury Braille)
- Comfort with a legacy estate alongside the modern stack: the inventory includes Oracle 11G, HP-UX, Power Builder, Kofax, and Livelink
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server administration
- Standard schedule is an eight-hour day scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Occasional weekend work may come up with advance government approval
