- Own queries, stored procedures, views, and logical data models for an assigned part of a federal agency's enterprise data platform
- Build and maintain database components in Amazon Aurora and accompanying platform stores
- Ensure database component accuracy and performance
- Make database-design decisions within the established platform architecture
- Carry database work through implementation and ongoing maintenance
- Build SQL queries, stored procedures, and views in Amazon Aurora for use with DynamoDB, Amazon S3, and Apache Iceberg tables
- Develop logical data models and database schemas
- Tune queries, load S3 data into platform stores, and manage connectivity under governed access
- Contribute to new capabilities, tools, and lines of business
- At least four years of database development experience
- Bachelor's degree
- SQL on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), working with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables
- Stored procedures, views, and query tuning
- Data loading from S3 into the platform stores
- Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)
- Logical data modeling and database-design decisions for assigned components within an established platform architecture
- Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Sole United States citizenship
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
- Preferred:
Physical-design ownership of Aurora and Iceberg stores, or the drive to grow into it - Preferred:
Access governed by Apache Ranger - Preferred:
Federal information technology or high-volume transaction experience - Preferred:
Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted developer tooling
Demonstrates expertise in database development, particularly with SQL on Amazon Aurora, and is skilled in logical data modeling and database design. Proficient in managing database components, ensuring performance, and implementing data loading processes within a federal agency's enterprise data platform.
