Brief Description of Duties
Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Specialist Supervisor, this position will be responsible for integrating immersive technologies into education, managing the VR lab, and teaching faculty and students the fundamentals of virtual reality. The ideal candidate will be passionate about innovative learning and emerging technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop VR experiences to enhance learning and research applications.
  • Develop instructional materials to support faculty and students in effectively using immersive technologies for teaching and learning.
  • Maintain VR equipment and software, ensuring all resources are up-to-date, functional, and properly documented.
  • Manage and oversee the UDC VR Lab, ensuring proper maintenance, scheduling, accessibility, and data management for students and faculty.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, staying updated on advancements in VR and mixed reality (MR).
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate immersive technologies into their curricula.
  • Provide training and support to faculty and students to effectively leverage immersive technology in the learning process.
  • Maintain asset inventory, assisting with tracking equipment, ordering materials and supplies, and ensuring accurate data records.
  • Maintain data records related to equipment usage, student and faculty engagement, and system performance for reporting and decision-making.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some days, evenings, and Saturdays as part of the normal work schedule.
  • Responsible for opening and closing facilities
  • Charges and discharges materials utilizing our own Ref Tab system.
  • Informs patrons of LRD procedures and regulations and enforces policies when needed.
  • Assists patrons with a variety of media equipment such as, but not limited to, audio and video recording/playback equipment, projectors, and laptop/desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Performs basic maintenance of audio/video, printing, and copying equipment and ensures equipment is always operating normally.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Digital Media, Educational Technology, Game Design, or a relevant discipline).
  • Teaching or training experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience managing a VR lab or technology-focused learning environment.
  • Strong understanding of immersive technologies, including AR/VR hardware and software applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and support students in using VR equipment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with faculty, staff, and students.
