1. SCOPEOFWORK&PURPOSE
The Contractorshallprovidededicated,hands-onseniortechnicaladministrationandoperationalsupportfortheenterpriseIBMz/ OS mainframe storage ecosystem. The Contractor is responsible for maintaining high availability, capacity health, performance, data integrity,anddisasterrecoveryreadinessacrossenterprise
Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD),automatedphysicaltape libraries, and virtual tape subsystems.
2.1. DASDAdministration&Capacity Management
- Monitoring&Allocation: Monitor,administer,allocate,andmanagemainframeDASDresourcesacrossallSMSstorage groups, volumes, and user pools.
- Capacity&Utilization Analytics: Performcontinuouscapacityforecasting,utilization tracking,availability verification,andI/O performance monitoring to avert space exhaustion.
- Space Incident Resolution : InvestigateandresolveDASD-relatedallocationfailures,out-of-spaceabends(SB37,SD37, SE37), abnormal catalog states, and volume fragmentation.
- Volume Lifecycle Support : Executevolumeinitialization,pool additions,data migration,volume consolidation, defragmentation, and decommission activities.
- Workload Safeguarding: Proactivelyidentifyandeliminatestoragebottlenecksthatmaydegradeonlinesystems(CICS,DB2), production databases, or critical batch cycles.

- Tape Infrastructure Support : Maintainenterprisetapeoperations,catalogretentionrules,andphysicallibraryhardwarehealth.

Administration: Monitor,manage,andauditIBMSL
4000automatedtapelibraryenvironments(or equivalent enterprise tape platform). - Hardware&Mount Troubleshooting: Investigateandresolvetapemounttimeouts,missing/unassigned volumes,mediaread/ write errors, robotic arm faults, and drive hardware degradation.
- OEMVendor
Coordination: Coordinatetapehardwarefailures,drive replacements,firmware updates,and scheduled maintenance with internal infrastructure teams and OEM service vendors.
- Virtual Tape Platform Support : Administer,monitor,and troubleshoot
Luminex Mainframe Virtual Tape (MVT) system sand Channel Gateway (CGX) components. - Throughput&Telemetry Oversight: Monitorchannelavailability,virtualdrivestates,backendSAN/NASstoragecapacity,data transfer throughput, and system error logs.
- Operational Tooling(LTMon): Leverage Luminexoperationaltooling(LTMonorequivalentutilities) formessageauditing, telemetry analysis, and channel health diagnostics.
- Replication&DRTesting: Monitor Luminexreplicationlinks,virtualtapesynchronizationhealth,recovery readiness,and participate in formal enterprise DR simulations.
- Media Lifecycle&Retention: Managevirtualscratchpools,VOLSERranges,retention policies,andmaintainseamless coexistence with physical tape operations.
- OEMSupport&Configuration Governance: Coordinate patching,microcode updates,andincidentresolutionwith
Luminex Technical Support; maintain architecture diagrams, inventories, configuration records, and operational runbooks. - Risk Analysis: Continuouslyassesssinglepointsoffailure,channel latency,backendstoragesaturation,and replication backlog risks, recommending mitigation plans.
- Storage Abend Remediation : Rapidlytriagestorage-relatedovernightbatchfailures,allocation delays,anddatasetlockupsto ensure uninterrupted batch completion.
- Early-Morning Stabilization: Provide hands-onearly-morningsupporttostabilizestoragepoolsandtapemountspriorto business start-of-day.
- Workload Control Alignment : Collaboratecloselywith Workload Automation /Production Controlpersonneltoremediate storage-related job halts and align dataset availability.
- Multi-Tier Escalation: Escalatestorageissuesrequiring Systems Programming ,RACFSecurity,database administration,or third-party engineering support.
- RACFCompliance: OperatestrictlywithinestablishedRACFsecurityprofiles,datasetprotectionrules,andprivilegedaccess protocol.
- Operational Coordination: MaintainthoroughcomprehensionofRACFsecuritydependenciestosafelycoordinatestorage volume maintenance without disrupting running workloads.
- ITILAlignment: AdheretoenterpriseITILprocessesfor
Change,Incident,and Problem
Management;documentRCAsand participate in change implementation reviews.
- Experience: Minimum6+yearsdedicatedexperienceinIBMz/OS Mainframe Storage Administration .
