Overview
Job Title:
Technical Writer
Location:
National Capital Region (Washington DC and surrounding areas)
This position is a strong fit for a writer who can translate technical and policy content into polished, review-ready deliverables in a federal program environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development and upkeep of the Project Management Plan and its supporting sections
- Draft, format, and edit major deliverables
- Prepare and refine status reports and meeting materials
- Establish and maintain consistent formatting, templates, style, and version control across all documentation
- Incorporate review comments and support quality control processes, ensuring deliverables are complete, accurate, and free of material errors
- Handle and store Government information and CUI in accordance with DHS records management and information protection requirements
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and able to pass a High-Risk Public Trust background investigation.
- Must possess a Bachelor's degree related to the field of work
- 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience as as a technical writer or editor supporting federal programs
- Proven ability to produce clear, professional documentation from technical, acquisition, or policy source material
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience within the Department of Homeland security with familiarity in cybersecurity is desired

Physical Requirements:Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required.
Possible lifting up to 40 lbs.
