Business Operational Concepts (BOC) is seeking a Cyber Security Firewall Engineer to work with our federal client. The primary duties include configuring and administering enterprise-grade network security tools such as Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Azure Premium Firewall, Office
365 Defender, Akamai WAF, and others. The candidate will work closely with a team of security engineers to protect the network from various cyber threats.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in network administration, with proficiency in enterprise network infrastructure technologies like firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and VPNs. Hands-on technical skills are essential to deploy, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot security technologies within the client’s environment. This position is suitable for network administrators aiming to advance into cybersecurity.

During the role, the candidate will gain exposure to various security technologies for vulnerability scanning, malware detection, intrusion prevention, firewall management, incident response, and SIEM systems, including Sentinel One, Palo Alto firewalls, Microsoft Security Suite, and Cyber Ark.

• Deploy, configure, operate, troubleshoot network security products such as Palo Alto firewalls, Azure Premium Firewall, Microsoft Defender, Gigamon, and Akamai WAF.
• Implement and manage firewall rules, troubleshoot network issues, evaluate emerging security technologies, and deploy new security products.
• Design and maintain highly available firewall solutions, build and optimize rulesets, and manage network services like traffic management, routing, and QoS.
• Support micro-segmented datacenter solutions with Palo Alto firewalls and transition to Azure cloud firewalls.
• Configure VPN solutions, manage firewall services, and respond to security audits and customer support requests.
• Develop documentation and provide escalation support as needed.

• 2+ years of firewall/network engineering experience.
• Proficiency with enterprise technologies such as Azure, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, VPNs, Active Directory, Windows, Linux/Unix.
• Understanding of networking protocols and concepts like TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and common protocols.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE, CISSP, VMWare VCA-NV.
