Linux Administrator

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTAs a Linux Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the customer’s mission, your duties will include:
- Install, configure, harden, and maintain Linux-based servers and services in production and non-production environments.
- Proactively monitor system performance and availability, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure reliability, scalability, and optimal performance.
- Execute regular system updates, patch management, and security configurations in alignment with organizational and industry best practices.
- Use scripts and standard automation tools to streamline and improve routine administrative tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues impacting Linux systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed.
- Apply, maintain, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) solutions using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline application deployment, configuration management, and environment consistency.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including configurations, change records, and standard operating procedures.
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Linux Administrator must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience as a Linux System Administrator in enterprise or production environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of major Linux distributions and their administration.
- Proficiency in scripting for automating routine system administration tasks.
- Familiarity with containerization platforms from an operations and support perspective.
- Exposure to Dev Sec Ops concepts and tools, with an understanding of secure software delivery and operational practices.
- Experience administering environments that leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) tools.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH), and core services in a Linux ecosystem.
