Ballard Spahr LLP is a more than 750 lawyer firm with 18 offices across the U.S. Our Aviation practice seeks to hire a Corporate Aviation Associate in Washington, D.C. with 1-3 years of legal experience. This position requires experience handling corporate transactions, ideally in the aviation industry, and strong academic credentials. The successful candidate must demonstrate a sincere passion for aviation.
Active bar license in the District of Columbia is required.
The team focuses on domestic and international aircraft transactions and litigation for both commercial and business aircraft. Clients include U.S. and foreign airlines, companies and high net worth individuals that own or lease corporate aircraft, leasing companies, banks, and manufacturers. The attorneys advise on the selection, support, financing, and acquisition of commercial and business aircraft; help navigate federal, state, and local tax issues;
and provide counsel on structure, operational matters, and FAA regulations. The attorneys have served as principal counsel in transactions involving aircraft ranging from small general-aviation aircraft up to Boeing 747-800 and the Boeing 787 VIP aircraft. The transactional work also includes aircraft completion and customization, maintenance matters, lease returns, novations and the full range of operational issues.

The salary range for this position is expected to be $200,000-$230,000 depending on experience and location.
