Position Summary

This counsel will handle a mix of business and corporate matters, support FMG initiatives and projects, and travel domestically and internationally as required.

Essential Skills and Functions
  • Understand business requirements and the Company’s risk tolerance; provide legal advice and business counsel consistent with same.
  • Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret rights and obligations under myriad agreements, including general commercial, government contracts, technology, employment, labor relations, real estate, professional services, and confidentiality/non‑disclosure.
  • Oversee litigation and manage outside counsel, ensuring effective execution of FMG’s objectives.
  • Maintain and support a culture of legal and compliance excellence.
  • Act as liaison between the U.S. legal department and the Italian legal department on topics of mutual concern.
  • Demonstrate independent and proactive management of multiple simultaneous projects from inception to completion and achieve goals.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and promptly to management and other stakeholders.
  • Be detail‑oriented, analytical, technical, self‑motivated, and big‑picture minded.
  • Commit to high standards of quality and ethics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Frequent sitting, occasional standing, walking, handling materials, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 15 pounds in a clean, comfortable, climate‑controlled setting. Exposure to shipyard areas may lack climate control and involve moving equipment.

Education and Experience
  • A Law degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the U.S. is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of legal practice handling commercial matters, including corporate, transactions, M&A, labor and employment, and/or commercial disputes is required.
  • Exposure to and/or familiarity with the following is preferred:
    • Foundational training at an Am Law firm or prior in‑house experience.
    • Experience in‑house or representing clients engaged in manufacturing.
    • Experience with government contracts.
