Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their Washington, D.C. team. This role is ideal for a litigator who thrives in high-stakes environments and wants the opportunity to handle serious felony and misdemeanor cases at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Represent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings, from arraignment through trial
- Prepare and argue motions, conduct negotiations, and handle plea agreements
- Draft motions, pleadings, and appellate briefs with precision and clarity
- Advise clients on case strategy, rights, and potential outcomes
- Appear in court regularly for hearings, motions, and trials
- Collaborate with investigators, fellow attorneys, and support staff to ensure comprehensive case preparation
- Manage a demanding caseload while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active and in good standing with the D.C. Bar
- 3-5+ years of proven criminal defense experience, with significant trial exposure
- Exceptional oral advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills
- Strong organizational ability to manage a high caseload
