A law firm is seeking an experienced Conflicts Manager to lead daily operations of the Conflicts and New Business Intake function. This role oversees workflow, supervises staff, conducts advanced conflict analysis, and ensures timely, policy-compliant resolution of complex matters. The Manager partners closely with attorneys, firm leadership, and the Office of General Counsel while supporting strategic initiatives and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily conflicts and intake workflow; assign and prioritize matters
- Supervise and mentor Conflicts Specialists and Administrators
- Review complex conflict analyses for accuracy and ethical compliance
- Oversee lateral attorney conflict reviews and urgent/after-hours coverage
- Maintain integrity of the conflicts database and intake systems
- Guide attorneys and staff on conflicts policies and procedures
- Oversee background checks and new client intake research
- Conduct and supervise advanced corporate and legal research (SEC filings, corporate hierarchies, litigation history, etc.)
- Assist with review of outside counsel guidelines and client contracts
- Support reporting, policy updates, and operational improvements
- Bachelor’s degree required; business, accounting, or research-focused background preferred
- 10+ years of conflicts, legal research, or paralegal experience
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role within a law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business relationships and identify potential ethical conflicts
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Intapp (or similar workflow tools), iManage, and integrated accounting systems (e.g., 3E)
- Advanced legal and corporate research skills
Washington, DC salary range: $135,000 – $186,000 annually
, commensurate with experience.
