We are seeking an experienced Specialist Paralegal to provide advanced-level support to attorneys in complex intellectual property and International Trade Commission (ITC) litigation matters. This role requires deep subject matter expertise, extensive trial experience, and the ability to manage high-level litigation responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
The Specialist Paralegal will apply advanced knowledge of IP litigation procedures, court and agency rules, and trial preparation to deliver elite legal support while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Perform substantive legal work in an efficient and cost-effective manner to support client billing objectives
- Meet an annual billable hour target of 1,725 hours
- Coordinate, organize, prepare, and interpret complex legal documents related to IP and ITC matters under attorney supervision
- Organize, review, and maintain case files and IP-related documents; prepare filings for courts and agencies, including the International Trade Commission
- Build and maintain case databases and document management systems
- Coordinate document productions and conduct e-discovery searches using platforms such as Relativity
- Prepare deposition materials and assist attorneys during depositions
- Conduct factual and legal research using internal and external databases
- Coordinate all aspects of trial preparation; attend trials and provide in-court or agency hearing support
- Manage logistics for trial and hearing preparation, including travel and remote/local technology setup
- Prepare motions in limine, jury instructions, verdict forms, witness lists, exhibits, and trial binders
- Partner with internal departments and external vendors to streamline litigation processes
- Train and direct junior team members as needed
- Work overtime and travel as required
- Handle additional litigation-related projects as assigned
- Expert proficiency in preparing complex trial documents, including motions in limine, jury instructions, verdict forms, and pleadings
- Extensive trial experience, including direct experience with ITC proceedings (required)
- Advanced to Expert proficiency in:
- Microsoft Outlook and web-based conferencing tools
- Microsoft Word, including document comparison tools
- Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets and database applications)
- Microsoft Power Point
- Expert proficiency with transcript management tools (e.g., Live Note)
- Advanced proficiency in legal research platforms (Lexis Nexis, Westlaw) and government systems (PACER, EDIS, USPTO)
- Expert knowledge of IP litigation procedures, terminology, and jurisdictional processes
- Strong understanding of timekeeping, expense reporting, and legal billing systems
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 10+ years of Litigation Paralegal experience required
- Minimum of 7+ years of IP Litigation experience required
- Arbitration and trial experience required
