SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation
:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly rate for this position is $17.95 and is commensurate with experience.

The Janitor keeps buildings in clean and orderly condition. The Janitor performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of the need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from the sidewalk.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week);
Essential personnel during inclement weather conditions.

Required: Some High School education; 1+ years of janitorial experience; work in a residential setting is helpful.

Expected Contributions:

• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the apartment building, common, and amenity areas
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors; clean restrooms
• Maintain curb appeal by ensuring trash is removed from the property
