Vice President of Development Operations – National Audubon Society

Washington, D.C./New York, NY

The National Audubon Society seeks an accomplished Vice President of Development Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership for its national fundraising enterprise at a pivotal moment of growth.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Development Operations will oversee the systems, infrastructure, analytics, and processes that support a high‑performing development operation. As Audubon executes its Flight Plan 2023–2028 and prepares for a potential $1B+ comprehensive campaign, this leader will play a critical role in strengthening campaign readiness, operational excellence, and data‑driven decision‑making across the development function.

The role encompasses oversight of development services, fundraising systems, data and analytics, gift processing, compliance, and reporting, ensuring scalability, alignment, and efficiency across a complex, national organization. The Vice President will serve as a key thought partner to senior leadership and collaborate closely with fundraising teams to support major, principal, and institutional giving efforts.

The ideal candidate brings significant experience leading development operations within large, mission‑driven organizations, along with strong people management skills and a collaborative leadership style. Experience supporting major campaigns and complex fundraising environments is highly valued.

This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape the future of a globally recognized conservation organization committed to protecting birds and the places they need - today and for generations to come.

Required to be in office Mondays and Tuesdays, plus two additional days per month. Will likely be required to travel additional days regularly as requested by the CDO, CEO, or other senior leaders.
