Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as a trusted strategic advisor, the Chief of Staff supports alignment, collaboration, and execution of projects and initiatives across Sunflower Services. In partnership with the Executive team, the Chief of Staff works to implement the CEO’s vision and priorities while facilitating alignment and follow-through across teams. Travel expectations for this role are up to 10%, and occasional DC office presence is preferred.

What

You’ll Do Manage Board of Director Operations
  • Prepare Board of Directors (BoD) meeting materials, including but not limited to agendas, presentations, briefing documents, and memos
  • Ensure the board portal is designed for optimal effectiveness and oversee the content that is shared for both the short and long term
  • Manage the BoD meeting cadence, coordinating and advising on scheduling
  • Onboard Directors to role and responsibilities, including the support of board governance and compliance
  • Translate board objectives into measurable initiatives
  • Oversee the execution of board approved projects, tracking timelines and deliverables, and managing the portfolio of initiatives
  • Attend board meetings, as requested
Manage Executive Team Operations
  • Devise and manage the Executive Team meeting cadence including operational and strategic meetings
  • Facilitate Executive Team meetings including agenda, presentations, decisions, and outstanding actions
  • Collaborate with Executive Team to set firm priorities and KPIs and to support priority implementation in accordance with Executive Team strategy.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the annual strategic planning process, including ensuring alignment with the BoD, CEO, and Executive team.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, participating in meetings, sometimes on the CEO’s behalf, facilitating collaboration and clear communication, and following up on the Executive Team’s action items.
Own Cross Functional C-level Projects
  • In coordination with the CEO, identify and deliver key cross functional outcomes that align to the CEO and the organization’s key business deliverables
  • Manage the multi-year and annual strategy including tracking, reporting, and identifying key issues, risks, and obstacles
  • Oversee Executive-level projects and initiatives, including bringing together stakeholders, helping drive decisions, and coordinating dashboards, results and outcomes; flag risks and mitigation strategies
  • Research, perform benchmarking, analyze data, and make recommendations for and to the Executive team.
Support the CEO
  • Review CEO internal communications; collaborate with the internal and external communication teams tp support the integration of messaging
  • Advise the CEO on potential obstacles and issues impacting the key outcomes of the company
  • Work collaboratively across the Executive Team and Client Partners (non-profit fiscal sponsors) to deliver on the CEO’s key performance indicators through project management and/or project delivery
