Job Title: Engagement Manager

Remote Eligible: Yes, National, United States

Travel Requirements: Up to 20%

Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 (depending on experience, skills, and qualifications relative to the job requirements)

Position Summary

An Engagement Manager is responsible for managing budgets, staff, activities, and projects of the Engagement portfolio of business. This position is considered a member of the Engagement leadership team and is responsible for ensuring that their portfolio of work is completed on time and within budget.

Job Duties

Substantially contribute to:

  • The Engagement leadership team, interacting with the other members of the team to help set priorities, resolve issues, recommend new development projects, manage risk, and manage change.
  • Interacting regularly with the Consortium’s community.
  • Identifying and developing new funding opportunities.
  • Developing projects and budget related documentation for delivery to the NSF, Board of Directors, Advisory Committees, etc. This includes ad hoc reports on the performance and trends of projects or functions managed as well as providing relevant metrics for quarterly and annual reports.
  • Preparing annual and multi-year program plans and resource needs (staff, consultants, and budget requirements) for their activities and projects.
Take lead or major role in
  • Managing Engagement resources (staff and infrastructure) in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Collaborating as a company and community-wide subject matter expert.
  • Establishing and enforcing relevant procedures that align with operating standards and mission.
  • Arranging for and implementing formal and informal training (including technical, professional development and internal training) to ensure staff understand and actively support policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the successful operation of the business.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has supervisory responsibility for the staff members who are direct reports.
  • This position may oversee projects with contributions from staff who are not direct reports.
  • Manage staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
  • Lead long-term project teams, including coordination with stakeholders and assignment of tasks to team members.
  • Interact effectively and efficiently with Earth Scope staff, community and partnering organizations.
  • Foster a professional culture through the use of strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and with best practices.
  • Take an active role in promoting and fostering a respectful work environment.
Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • PhD degree in geoscience, computer science, physical science, engineering, education, or related field AND six (6) years of relevant experience of which four (4) years include work as a manager.

OR

  • Master’s degree in geoscience, computer science, physical science, engineering, education, or related field AND seven (7) years of relevant experience of which five (5) years include work as a manager or seven (7) years of relevant experience of which three (3) years include work as a manager and certification from a recognized leadership or management…
