Asia Society seeks an experienced and highly motivated Executive Director, Corporate Engagement to lead our corporate membership, sponsorship, and strategic partnership initiatives. This newly elevated leadership role requires a self-starter who is comfortable engaging and calling on C‑suite executives and successfully working both independently and as a team member to create and implement fundraising strategies that reach ambitious financial goals.

Based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid schedule, this role will oversee a corporate revenue portfolio managing approximately 55 corporate partnerships. The ideal candidate will bring an established portfolio of contacts and will work closely with the Chief Development Officer, Managing Director, Philanthropy, and Asia Society's senior leadership team to position the organization as the premier convening platform for global business and policy dialogue on Asia‑U.S. relations.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Revenue Management
    • Oversee a $1.5M–$2M Corporate Membership revenue goal, managing approximately 55 corporate partnerships with measurable year‑over‑year growth
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate engagement strategy aligned with Asia Society’s mission and revenue goals
    • Serve as a leader at Asia Society's Washington, D.C. office as a leading corporate policy hub, competing effectively with premier institutions such as CFR, CSIS, and Brookings
  • Corporate Membership & Sponsorship Development
    • Drive prospect identification efforts to grow the base of corporate partners through unrestricted, restricted, and in‑kind support
    • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship of corporate members and sponsors across diverse industry sectors
    • Leverage industry expertise, market trends, and deep knowledge of corporate partners’ needs to generate extensive client growth
    • Create compelling presentations, solicitation materials including fundraising decks, letters, and email proposals for Asia Society programs, series, initiatives, and exhibitions
    • Design tailored partnership packages that deliver strategic value, including executive briefings, private round tables, and international forums
  • Relationship Management & Business Development
    • Serve as Asia Society’s principal relationship manager for C‑suite executives, government affairs leaders, and senior business stakeholders in the D.C. area and beyond
    • Oversee and manage the corporate Business Council and other corporate‑focused councils, adding value to Asia Society’s leading corporate partners and the institution
    • Partner closely with Asia Society’s senior leadership, policy fellows, and global centers to align corporate engagement with global initiatives
  • Program Integration & Activation
    • Collaborate with the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) and program teams to design and deliver high‑impact corporate briefings, convenings, and events
    • Manage corporate sponsorship activations for Asia Society special events
    • Ensure the corporate engagement portfolio meaningfully supports Asia Society’s policy, cultural, and educational programming
    • Prepare comprehensive reports for corporate sponsors
  • Team Leadership & Operations
    • Manage and mentor a small development team; coordinate closely with colleagues in Asia Society’s global network
    • Oversee the hire and management of a New York‑based Corporate Engagement Associate Director (title TBD)
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify areas of opportunity and new technologies to maximize efficiency in fundraising efforts
    • Utilize CRM systems (Salesforce) to track performance metrics, manage pipeline, and ensure database management protocols are followed
    • Perform additional duties as required
Requirements
  • Education & Experience
    • BA or BS in a related field (fundraising, marketing, business, international relations)
    • 7–10 years of progressive experience in corporate engagement, sponsorship development, or institutional advancement, ideally within a global nonprofit, policy institute, or membership‑based organization
    • Proven track record of securing and managing six‑ and seven‑figure corporate partnerships with demonstrable multi‑year relationship sustainability
