The Critical Power Group is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our technicians are factory trained on most major UPS manufacturers of static equipment (e.g., MGE/APC, Liebert, Toshiba/Mitsubishi, and Powerware/Eaton). They perform preventive maintenance, equipment testing, and emergency service calls at high-profile government, institutional, and commercial facilities. The group also provides engineering and technical support to customers and other divisions of M.C. Dean, Inc.
Responsibilities
- Travel daily with an independent work structure
- Be available for emergency calls 24/7 unless on PTO or off-call
- Maintain safeguard for company-issued equipment, tools, and instruments
- Install and repair static switch and PDU systems
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on contracted equipment
- Interface with customers and maintain communication about availability
- Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records
- Use electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary
- Coordinate and manage onsite subcontractors as needed
- Maintain vehicle safety and operational standards, including insurance
- Ensure work meets M.C. Dean standards
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely
- Provide technical support to customers upon request
- Maintain technical documentation for review
- Attend product-specific training as required
- Cross-train others as needed
Other Duties As Required
- Inspect static switch systems and associated controls, including various inspections and repairs
- Certify system adherence to quality standards
- Review and verify system drawings and specifications
- Provide technical assistance, perform inspections, and advise site personnel
- Follow safety standards during physical tasks like lifting batteries
- Operate instruments such as digital multimeters, insulation testers, and battery testers
- Be available 24/7 when on call, with potential overnight travel
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Controls
- Work under general supervision, with independence within established policies
- Perform inspections and certification to ensure reliability and quality of power systems
Qualifications
- AA/BS in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent training
- At least 5+ years experience with UPS systems, batteries, and electrical apparatus
- Ability to interpret schematics and understand NEC standards
- Strong diagnostic skills and testing proficiency
- Proficiency with laptops, software, and communication devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to undertake manufacturer training and certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

Abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, demonstrating physical strength and stamina
- Ability to move ladders, work at heights up to 60 feet, and climb various structures
- Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and communication skills in English
- Recognize problems and apply general rules to solve specific issues
- Detail-oriented with close-range vision and auditory comprehension
Pay Range: USD $34.78 - USD $50.66 /Hr.
