Express Employment has partnered with a company in the DMV area to find a Director of Marketing. The Director of Marketing is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and managing the organization’s advertising, marketing, and public relations strategies. This role oversees departmental staff, external vendors, and agency relationships while driving brand growth, market expansion, and revenue performance.
Key Responsibilities Advertising- Collaborate with business unit leaders to develop sales strategies and promotional campaigns
- Negotiate advertising rates, contracts, and vendor agreements
- Plan and manage advertising and promotional activities across print, digital, and direct marketing channels
- Oversee creative development including copywriting, design, layout, and production in coordination with agencies and freelancers
- Review and approve advertising materials prior to release
- Direct market research and data analysis to support campaign planning
- Monitor campaign performance and evaluate cost-effectiveness
- Establish marketing goals in collaboration with senior leadership to support revenue growth and profitability targets
- Develop and execute short- and long-term marketing strategies
- Analyze financial, technological, demographic, and competitive trends to identify market opportunities
- Monitor marketing performance and ensure results align with budget and objectives
- Adjust strategy as needed based on market and competitive conditions
- Lead responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP opportunities
- Conduct market research and customer surveys
- Prepare departmental reports and manage marketing budgets
- Recommend structural or organizational improvements to enhance marketing effectiveness
- Develop and implement public relations strategies and initiatives
- Manage press relations, media outreach, and news releases
- Support executive communications including speeches, articles, and public-facing materials
- Oversee trade shows, events, and promotional exhibits
- Align public relations efforts with advertising and marketing objectives
- Lead community engagement and corporate outreach initiatives
- Represent the organization at industry and professional events
- Directly supervise members of the Marketing Department
- Manage agency and vendor relationships
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure strategic alignment
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience across marketing, advertising, design, sales, or public relations
- At least 2 years of leadership or management experience
- Experience across B2B, B2G, and B2C markets
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data
- Working knowledge of graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strategic thinking and market analysis
- Budget management and performance measurement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present to executives, stakeholders, and public audiences
- Problem-solving and decision-making in dynamic environments
