Human Fundraiser Consultant

CHN seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented Fundraising Consultant to support planning and execution of its annual fundraising event, scheduled for July 2026. The Human Needs Hero reception is an in-person event honoring a person selected by CHN’s Board as that year’s Human Needs Hero. Its fundraising is in large part achieved through sponsor ships from organizations or individuals, ranging from $250 to $10,000.

The Consultant, working closely with CHN staff, will play a central role in sponsor prospecting, outreach, donor and contact data management, and event coordination to ensure a successful and well-documented fundraising effort that strengthens future campaigns.

• Identify and solicit sponsors, including new prospects and past supporters.
• Manage sponsor outreach, including written communications, phone follow-up, and solicitation timelines, and manage Board member, staff, or other volunteered help for sponsor outreach.
• Maintain accurate sponsorship and prospect records, track fundraising tasks, deadlines, and sponsorship deliverables using Airtable and/or CRM systems.
• Secure and coordinate the event venue and vendors, including food and beverages.
• Oversee production of event’s published programs (either online or paper), including ads, in concert with other CHN staff.
• Maintain organized records of vendors, costs, and event logistics for current monitoring and future use.
• Work with CHN staff to plan and run the event, including logistics for invited speakers and day‑of support.
• Prepare and send sponsor thank‑you materials and complete post‑event followup.
• Provide regular progress updates and a brief post‑event summary based on outreach and fundraising data.

• Ideal candidates have a commitment to social and economic justice issues—including ending poverty and hunger through public interest advocacy and organizing; have had some paid or volunteer experience raising money for advocacy or service organizations, are detail-oriented, creative, outgoing, and able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ease with speaking to strangers and confidence in fundraising a necessity.
• Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Expected to work independently and at times unsupervised.
• Ability to interact with a broad set of diverse individuals and organizations.
• Some higher education a plus but not required. Rising college seniors encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with computers and MS Office is a must. Familiarity with Air Table and customer relationship management (CRM) software is a big plus.

• Position will be paid at a rate of $30‑$40 per hour, subject to experience, not to exceed 500 hours unless the Consultant and CHN mutually agree to an extension of time.
• CHN is seeking a candidate to start no later than March 23.
• The position will run through July 30, 2026.

Candidates must be based in the Washington, DC area.
