Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward
8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are currently seeking a Director of Emergency Department (Full Time).

The Director of Emergency Department is responsible for the overall management of nursing care within assigned areas. This role oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of outcome-driven nursing quality programs in compliance with applicable government regulations, licensing, and accreditation standards. The Director provides clinical and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency services, manages staffing and budgetary resources, leads performance improvement initiatives, and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to support organizational short- and long-term strategic goals.

Qualifications Education/Qualification
  • BSN required.
  • Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare or Administration preferred.
  • Over 5 years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred over 8 years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting.
  • BLS, ACLS and TNCC required.
Skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge nursing clinical practices and management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with common computer based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases, whether PC, network or mainframe based.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices relevant to clinical nursing specialty practice.
  • Demonstrated experience with Nursing Quality and Patient Safety programs and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment between staff members. Able to achieve operational goals through influence and expert change management skills. Demonstrates leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
