PositionSummary
Provides leadership, management, and direction to continually improve nursing practice and patient care within the GWUH Service Excellence Standards. The Director is responsible for nursing care within assigned areas, and for nursing quality programs that are outcome‑oriented and aligned with government regulations, licensing and accreditation requirements. The role develops and implements programs and plans to effectively utilize resources to achieve the organization’s short‑ and long‑term strategic goals, objectives, and mission.
Qualifications- Registered Nurse, BSN required
- Master’s degree in nursing, education, or advanced practice program required
- Current licensure in the District of Columbia; certification preferred, not required
- Minimum of 7 years of nursing clinical experience
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing management or supervisory experience
- Professional development and/or clinical educator experience required
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and/or adult education practices
- Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management
- Proficiency with common computer‑based applications such as electronic mail, word processing, and various databases
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Adaptability to multiple and changing priorities
- Knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing specialty practice
- Experience with Nursing Quality and Patient Safety programs
- Knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and a positive work environment; ability to influence and lead change management
