Job Summary

Step‑down and progressive cardiac care RN position in a 48‑bed unit with pulmonary and cardiac surgery beds.

Shift Schedule

2 × 12‑hour day shifts + 1 × 12‑hour night shift.

Unit Description

The unit provides telemetry/progressive care for patients with cardiac and pulmonary diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

The Progressive Care Unit RN is responsible for delivering patient care to telemetry/progressive care patients, making critical clinical judgments efficiently, coordinating patient care, and assisting others in patient management. The RN may also be referred to as a step‑down, cardiac step‑down, neuro step‑down, surgical step‑down, or transition unit nurse.

Qualifications & Experience
  • NIHSS, BLS & ACLS – Required
  • BSN – Highly desired
  • Registered Nurse license in the state – Required
  • Cardiac Tele Experience –

    Required:

    2 years
  • RN Experience –

    Required:

    2 years
  • Cerner experience – Required
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program – Required
Clinical Focus
  • Frequent IV drips:
    Heparin, Milrinone, Lasix, Bumex
  • Common diagnoses: CHF, NSTEMI, Arrhythmias, Vascular Surgery
Minimum Requirements
  • Current RN license
  • Preferred one year progressive care experience
  • Current CPR
  • TB screening if applicable
  • Current Health certificate
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
