Job Details
  • Position: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN) / Home Care Nurse / Travel RN
  • Location: Washington, DC 20008 (field-based — assigned group of zip codes within the District; coverage across Northwest DC)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (March 24, 2026 – June 23, 2026)
  • Shift: Day shift, 8-hour days (08:00 – 17:00), Monday–Friday
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,940 – $2,050
  • Employment Type: Travel, W2
  • Orientation: 80 hours
  • Mileage Reimbursement: $0.58 per mile (from first to last patient daily)
  • Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
  • Interdisciplinary Support: Physical Therapy, Social Services, Phlebotomy, Interpretation Services
  • Charting/EMR: Home Care Home Base (HCHB) / Point Care (experience required)
  • Personal Vehicle: Required (reliable, meets licensure/insurance requirements)
  • Weekend/Call: No weekend or on-call requirements — great work/life balance for a travel RN
  • Float: May be asked to cover another zip code within the DC coverage area as needed
Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical homecare RN experience providing skilled home health visits (private duty/private home care not accepted)
  • OASIS-E: Required — proven experience completing OASIS-E assessments (experience as Home Health Nurse/OASIS RN)
  • EMR: Home Care Home Base (HCHB) / Point Care experience required
  • License: Active Washington, DC RN license required (in hand at time of submission)
  • Certification: BLS required
  • Clinical Skills: Peripheral IV starts required; strong assessment, care coordination, and documentation skills for home health nursing
  • Vaccination: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • References: Two (2) supervisor references required
  • Requested Time Off (RTO): Must be submitted up front; no RTO during the first two weeks; maximum 7 days per 13-week contract
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted (must have OASIS-E experience)
  • Vehicle: Reliable personal vehicle required for daily patient visits
Responsibilities
  • Deliver skilled nursing home visits across assigned Washington, DC zip codes, including start-of-care (SOC), resumption-of-care (ROC), recertification, and discharge visits
  • Complete accurate, timely OASIS-E assessments and maintain compliant documentation in HCHB / Point Care
  • Perform clinical interventions: peripheral IV starts, medication administration, wound care (including wound vac management), drain management, catheter/ostomy care, infusion services, and central line/port care
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on chronic disease management (CHF, diabetes), medication safety, oxygen safety, fall prevention, and plan-of-care adherence
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
  • Maintain safe field practice standards, infection prevention, and professional documentation across the assigned Washington, DC service area
  • May float to cover additional zip codes within the District as needed
