We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery Nurse (L&D RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at a renowned Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. - Location: Washington, DC 20060 (Washington, DC / District of Columbia — DC travel nursing)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 23, 2026 – June 22, 2026)
- Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Nurse, Night Shift
- Setting: Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital (high-acuity obstetrics, perinatal unit)
- Shift: Night, 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:30 – 08:00)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Unit: Labor & Delivery — 12 beds, 7 rooms, typical daily census of 3
- Electronic Charting: Centricity, Sorian, EDM, Lawson, Kronos (EMR experience preferred)
- Scrubs: Provided
- Parking & Transit: Multiple parking options; accessible by Metro and bus (Washington DC public transportation)
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1910 - $2010 per week
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (strong perinatal and intrapartum skills)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia (required at submission) — no pending licenses
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required (Neonatal Resuscitation required)
- Experience with couplet care, triage of obstetrical patients, and floating within scope (postpartum and newborn care)
- COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions for flu only)
- First-time travel nurses accepted; two supervisor references required
- Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday; one time-off request permitted during contract
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns across intrapartum and postpartum phases
- Monitor and assess patient status during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum with timely interventions
- Assist with high-acuity deliveries and collaborate on emergent situations in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital setting
- Perform couplet care and newborn assessments, including neonatal resuscitation when needed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using electronic charting systems (EMR proficiency)
- Deliver patient and family education, emotional support, and culturally competent care throughout the childbirth experience
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatology, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Float to affiliated units or hospitals as needed within scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
