- Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts; 3 shifts per week (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm / Night: 7:00pm–7:30am); rotation every 2–4 weeks; night shift preference possible; weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Hours per Week: 36 or 48
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 (Cardiac ICU ratio)
- Charting: Cerner (electronic health record experience preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1900-$2000
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU / CVICU / Cardiac ICU experience required (critical care RN)
- Active DC RN license required (pending accepted with proof; must be in hand before start date)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Candidates must pass the Relias EKG competency exam with at least an 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms prior to start
- Flexibility to rotate between day and night shifts and float to other ICU or IMC units as needed
- Strong clinical skills: 12?lead EKG interpretation, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions, phlebotomy
- Experience with advanced cardiac devices (IABP, Impella, LVAD), CRRT, and other advanced therapies highly desirable
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac conditions, including advanced heart failure, post-cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction, and post-interventional cardiology procedures
- Monitor and manage life-supporting devices and complex medications for patients in cardiogenic shock, awaiting transplant, or recovering from major cardiac interventions
- Perform and interpret 12?lead EKGs, manage arterial and central lines, administer blood products, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Manage ventilators and collaborate with respiratory therapy for optimal ventilator care (ventilator management experience required)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams to ensure coordinated cardiac critical care
- Float to other ICU or IMC units as required while maintaining high standards of care across assignments
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols and strict isolation precautions
- Participate in ongoing education and device certification opportunities throughout the contract
- Document all care accurately and timely in the Cerner electronic health record system
- Work in a nationally recognized heart & vascular center and gain advanced cardiac ICU experience
