Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Oncology RN to join our Medical/Surgical Oncology unit at George Washington University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital known for its exceptional cancer care. As an Oncology/BMT RN, your responsibilities will encompass administering chemotherapy, closely monitoring oncology-specific complications such as febrile neutropenia and oncological emergencies, overseeing blood and platelet transfusions, and collaborating with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to deliver patient‑centric care at its best.
Responsibilities- Administer chemotherapy and related treatments to patients.
- Monitor patients for oncological complications, including febrile neutropenia and other emergencies.
- Perform blood and platelet transfusions as ordered.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and response to therapy in a timely and accurate manner.
- Educate patients and families about disease process, treatment plan, and self‑care techniques.
- Adhere to hospital policies, state regulations, and evidence‑based practice guidelines.
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program.
- BLS certification.
- Current state nursing license.
- Prefer one year full‑time or three years part‑time experience in an acute care setting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
