Travel Nurse RN - Labor and Delivery

Position Overview

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a 13‑week assignment in Washington, District of Columbia. The role will involve 12‑hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, and will take place at a facility in Washington, DC.

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
• Prepare equipment and aid the physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients.
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols.
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.

• At least one year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
• STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC).
• Other certifications and licenses as may be required for the position.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and have basic PC skills.
• Physical abilities: remain stationary, move about, move 50‑100 lbs, push, pull, and bend as needed.
• Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
• Technical skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, and movement during procedures and equipment use.
• Mental requirements: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision or independently, handle irregular activity schedules, and maintain detailed concentration.

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week, subject to confirmation, with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
