Admissions Specialist
The Admissions Specialist is a member of Georgetown University's Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) Student Affairs admissions team and reports to the Assistant Dean of Admissions. The Berkley School of Nursing is dedicated to providing a world-class education in the Jesuit tradition. At the undergraduate level, we offer a traditional BSN program. At the graduate level, there are multiple programs of study administered on-campus and online:
Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwifery/Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Accelerated BSN, Master of Nursing-Direct Entry, a PhD and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate.
The Admissions Specialist is responsible for recruiting prospective students, facilitating admissions requirements and providing support and guidance to prospective students throughout the enrollment process.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Facilitating all enrollment activities, from initial inquiry through final matriculation, for students pursuing enrollment into Georgetown's Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) with special attention to inquiries and applicants.
- Assessing student need, and presenting information as to why and how BSON may benefit a student's personal, academic and professional goals.
- Acting as liaison with collaborating departments while offering extensive student service and support.
- Providing appropriate follow up and follow-through with prospective students via phone, email, text, and in-person outreach as they move through the admissions funnel.
- Collecting all necessary documents and paperwork toward enrollment including applications, transcripts, and other records.
- Maintaining applicant contact records for all touchpoints with next steps in CRM.
- Liaise with faculty regarding applicant information; act as a student advocate and communicate effectively and clearly with University stakeholders.
- Coordinate, schedule, and host prospective student webinars.
- Demonstrate strong command of program curriculum, costs, financial aid, career outcomes, full- and part-time options.
- Participate in open houses, accepted student days, some local travel, as well as in-person and virtual recruitment events.
The Student Affairs office supports students during the admission and decision-making process phase through enrollment until graduation. The office cultivates campus partnerships and collaborates with faculty, staff and student leaders in order to facilitate student success. The admissions team provides admissions support for all programs, both on-campus and distance. The office serves approximately 800 students in traditional on-campus programs and graduate online programs.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree and at least two years in admissions in a higher education setting. Nursing or health education experience strongly preferred. Ideal candidates possess consultative sales/customer service experience, familiarity with various admissions data management systems, including Slate and Sales Force CRM.
All candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational abilities, precise attention to detail and strong closing and follow-up skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and respond to ever-changing environments comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders.
Additionally, the candidate should have an appreciation for the value of a strong undergraduate education; strong organizational and problem-solving skills; interest and ability in computer software applications; high energy; excellent listening, writing, and communication skills; the ability to work independently as well as a member of a team; and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population.
