The Pediatric Intensive Care Team at Med Star Georgetown University Hospital provides care for critically ill patients with ages ranging from neonates to 21 years. The unit is supported by the full spectrum of medical and surgical services. The PICU specializes in the care of complex transplant patients, such as pediatric liver, kidney, small bowel and multivisceral organ transplants. As one of Med Star Georgetown's Centers of Excellence, the Med Star Georgetown Transplant Institute draws pediatric patients from all around the world for our growing program, which recently introduced pediatric living donor transplants and domino transplants.
The PICU provides the highest level of care to critically ill medical and surgical patients including those requiring high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, continuous veno-venous hemofiltration and inhaled nitric oxide. We are proud to be among the 2% of hospitals to have received Magnet® designation five or more times and to have been awarded the first ANCC Well-Being Excellence™ credential.
