Summary

Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care. Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner. Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served. Role models organizational values. Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance. Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve projects outcomes.

Facilitates employee engagement activities including professional/shared governance participation

Qualifications Education Requirements
  • BSN required.
  • Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred
Experience
  • 1 year charge nurse experience preferred
  • Professional experience that demonstrates ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred
Skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to conceptualize the patient flow process and its impact at the unit and hospital level
  • Ability to implement and sustain process changes to improve department and organizational outcomes
License / Certification
  • Current RN license in District of Columbia required
  • Certification in specialty preferred
  • Successful completion of unit specific certifications (BLS,ACLS)
