Job Summary

As a Senior Technician, you will be joining a dynamic team performing cutting edge research across multiple disciplines. Operating in a collaborative environment, you will provide invaluable support to a large government contract. You will provide hands‑on technical laboratory support with a focus on sample processing, analytical execution, equipment maintenance, and materials management. In this role you will be expected to work efficiently in a fast‑paced operational environment, supporting laboratory throughput while ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and safety practices.

You will play a key role in supporting the daily laboratory functions by preparing materials, operating and maintaining equipment, tracking supplies, and supporting accurate and timely completion of analytical tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Support execution of laboratory experiments and sample analysis rooted in chemistry and biological sciences.
  • Independently perform routine sample extraction and analysis experiments in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or work instructions with guidance from senior scientists.
  • Operate lab equipment to include pipetting devices, balances, pH meters, microscopes, centrifuges, plate readers, etc.
  • Document experimental data clearly and consistently. Compile data and perform first line technical and quality control review prior to submission to senior scientist for final review.
  • Actively communicate progress and results to senior scientists and report data that does not meet acceptance criteria.
  • Actively participate in maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities within structured quality frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001:2015 or 21 CFR Part 58 GLP).
  • Follow established safety and security guidelines.
  • Maintain laboratory supply stocks and critical reagents anticipating needs and use rates so that sample throughput is not compromised.
  • Train inexperienced staff in sample analysis and extraction methods.
  • Contribute to writing of standard operating procedures.
  • Some domestic travel may be required.
Key Qualifications
  • High School diploma and 9 years laboratory experience focused on sample preparation and analysis using scientific methods in biology and/or chemistry.
  • Ability and willingness to work in biological safety level 2 (BSL‑2) laboratories.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.
  • Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 25 pounds, and work in the proximity of hazardous/infectious materials.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment.
