Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we're shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies.
Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we're doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.
Mozilla Finance is responsible for strategic resource allocation, overseeing day-to-day financial operations as we scale our mission impact with new and existing products, technology, and business models.
Core Services brings together the functions Mozilla runs on:
Legal, People, Data Science, Trust & Safety / Customer Experience, Strategy, IT, Cloud Engineering & Ecosystems, and Security - teams supporting every part of the Company.
We are seeking a detail-driven Senior Financial Analyst, Core Services to execute the recurring planning, reporting, and analysis that supports this portfolio. This role will be responsible for preparing the forecast, reconciling actuals through close, maintaining headcount and vendor tracking, and producing the reporting that reaches budget owners and the COO. This role reports to the Finance Manager, Core Services, who leads business partnership with the functional leaders, and works closely with teams across the organization.
To succeed, you will need to work accurately across a broad portfolio, translate variances into explanations a non-finance audience can act on, and balance competing cycle deadlines with outstanding attention to detail. This position requires a resourceful self-starter who takes recurring processes from start to finish and improves them along the way.
What you'll do:- Prepare the Core Services forecast each cycle. Build and load cost center detail in Pigment, validate inputs, reconcile against the prior cycle, and document what moved along with the drivers behind it.
- Assemble the monthly budget update. Prepare variance to plan, drivers, and open items for budget owners and the COO, ready for the Finance Manager to carry into leader conversations.
- Partner with Accounting through monthly close. Tie out actuals, accruals, and forecast, and resolve coding and timing issues at the source rather than correcting for them downstream.
- Maintain headcount tracking. Keep position-level tracking and the headcount-to-plan bridge current, coordinating with People and hiring managers on start dates and backfill assumptions.
- Track vendor and cloud spend. Monitor POs, commitments, renewals, and run-rate changes across the group. Take in cloud cost information prepared by the Cloud Engineering team, carry it into Core Services and consolidated Company reporting, and review it for anomalies and initial questions.
- Apply AI and automation to recurring work. Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort across the forecast, close, and reporting cycle, improving the speed and reliability of what the team produces. Experiment with tools and share what works.
- Support Core Services teams day to day. Field data and reporting questions directly, escalating items that call for a partnership discussion.
Core Experience
- 5+ years of work experience in business unit FP&A, corporate FP&A, strategic finance, or a comparable analytical finance role, including hands-on work through a full budget and forecast cycle with close and variance analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another quantitative field, or…
