Director of Business Development - Commercial Mechanical Construction - Maryland

Gryphon Oakwood is partnering with a well‑established, growth‑focused mechanical contractor with a strong presence in the DC–Baltimore market. Our client is seeking a Director of Sales to drive commercial mechanical new construction growth across the region. This role will lead business development efforts, build and maintain strategic relationships with GCs, developers, and owners, and execute a focused sales strategy to increase market share and revenue.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial HVAC/mechanical construction, a strong DC–Baltimore network, and a proven track record of securing and closing large‑scale new construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive commercial mechanical new construction growth across the DC–Baltimore region.
  • Lead business development efforts, identifying and securing high‑value project opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with GCs, developers, owners, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Position the company early in the project lifecycle to win negotiated and design‑assist work.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and close.
  • Partner with preconstruction and operations teams to deliver competitive, profitable proposals.
  • Track pipeline activity, market trends, and performance metrics to ensure revenue targets are achieved.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of commercial HVAC/mechanical construction experience, focused on new construction sales and business development.
  • Proven success securing and closing large‑scale commercial mechanical projects.
  • Strong, established network within the DC–Baltimore construction market.
  • Solid understanding of preconstruction, project delivery methods, and contract negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and expand market share.
  • Excellent relationship‑building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
