Position OverviewA full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate Position will soon be available in the Laboratory of Dr. Sayan Nandi (PI), Howard University, Washington DC. The laboratory, funded by NIH and private foundation grants, focuses on understanding the contributions of microglial cells to various brain disorders. Work will involve mouse genetic studies, cell culture models, and multidisciplinary approaches such as biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, high-resolution imaging, neurophysiology, surgery, and behavioral studies.

Supervisory Accountability:
The candidate will have training in rodent procedures including but not limited to stereotaxic methods, imaging, and behavioral studies. Experience in slice electrophysiology (or biochemistry/molecular biology) is a plus. The candidate should work collaboratively with faculty in the Department of Anatomy and outside the department, communicate effectively with the PI, interpret scientific literature, conduct data analysis, and present findings. The candidate will also train incoming students and postdoctoral fellows.
and Scope
The candidate will learn various models and techniques in neuroscience relevant to stroke and neurodegenerative disease research. They will write competitive fellowship and grant applications and chart a path to independence, with internal and external collaborations.

Minimum RequirementsPh.D. degree with background in Neuroscience or related fields.
CompensationCompensation Range: $64,800 - $72,000
