Responsibilities
- Protect the principal against possible threats
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
- Using provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, in a clear and concise manner
- Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager
- Minimum requirements include:
Must be at least 21 years of age;
United States citizen or lawful permanent resident with verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the United States Armed Forces; issued a Social Security Card bearing the name and number; two years of security (armed) experience or one year of law enforcement experience in full-duty status - Two years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
- Fluently speak, read, and comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic firearms
- Strong knowledge of the security industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service-driven mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers
- PSOs shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors
- Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center; ability to speak clearly and remain calm in stressful situations
- Remain on post for up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break
- Remain alert for up to 12 hours with the ability to react quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
- Education:
High School Diploma/GED - Certification Requirements: MD Security Guard Certification Unarmed; MD Armed Guard Card;
Tri-Annual Refresher Exhibit; NWDTP Training; CPR/American Red Cross Certification;
Basic Training Exhibits 72/64 hours;
Firearms Qualification;
Initials Weapon Training; O.C. aerosol spray; MEB Expandable Baton;
National Weapons Detection Training Program; DHS Suitability; FPS Orientation Certificate - Additional Information / Benefits:
